As a U.S. Marine Radar Specialist, SSgt Brian Meyer also became a Marksmanship Instructor and soon turned his career towards Explosive Ordinance Specialist. In support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, SSgt Meyer and his team conducted over 300 missions in the course of their 7-months during his first deployment. After returning, SSgt Meyer served under the U.S. Secret Service as a Hazardous Devices Team Leader for the Presidential First Lady, Secretary of State and the Pope.
On his third and final deployment, SSgt. Meyer provided security in Sagin Afghanistan when he was severely injured during patrol. Dismantling a roadside bomb, it detonated in his right hand suffering extreme bodily blast injuries. As a result, the blast amputated his right hand, right leg, thumb, index, and middle fingers on his left hand.
A decorated Marine, SSgt Brian Meyer retired from the U.S. Marine Corp in 2013.
